abstract

in this investigation, attempts were directed to study the inhibitive effects of nitrite and phosphate base inhibitors for the carbon steel alloy samples, which are used in an acid gas treatment process (the sulfiran® solution), in fe-edta solution. electrochemical techniques, i.e. polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (eis), were used to evaluate the inhibition efficiency. linear polarization resistance (lpr) and weight loss techniques were also used to determine the corrosion rate for the pilot tests. the results indicated that adding inhibitors reduced corrosion rate to some suitable values (

Inhibition of corrosion of carbon steel by heptane sulphonic

Corrosion inhibition of carbon steel in dam water by sodium heptane sulphonate (SHS) and zinc ion system was investigated using weight loss and potentiodynamic polarization methods. Results of weight loss method indicated that inhibition efficiency (IE) increased as the inhibitor concentration increased. A synergistic effect existed between SHS and Zn. The influence of sodium potassium tartrate...

Computational Evaluation of Corrosion Inhibition of Four Quinoline Derivatives on Carbon Steel in Aqueous Phase

Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulation and Density Functional Theory (DFT) methods have been used to evaluate the efficiency of four quinoline derivatives on corrosion inhibition in the aqueous phase. Some quantum chemical parameters such as hardness (η), electrophilicity (w), polarizability (a), energy of the highest occupied molecular orbital (EHOMO), energy of th...

Bacillus sp. Acting as Dual Role for Corrosion Induction and Corrosion Inhibition with Carbon Steel (CS)

Present work investigated the role of five different bacteria species as a corrosion inducer as well as corrosion inhibitor with carbon steel (CS). We observed the ability of different bacteria species on the metal surface attachment, biofilm formation, and determined Peroxidase, Catalase enzyme activity in the detached biofilm from the CS surface. We found that each strain has diverse conduct ...

INHIBITION OF CORROSION OF CARBON STEEL IN HCl SOLUTIONS BY VARIOUS SCHIFF BASE

Evaluation of corrosion inhibitors for steel in acidic media is important for some industrial facilities as well as is very interesting from theoretical aspects. Most of the effective inhibitors are organic compounds containing nitrogen, phosphorus and sulphur in their structures [1, 2]. Heteroatoms such as nitrogen, oxygen and sulphur are capable of forming coordinate covalent bond with metal ...
